Sharing a room with a sibling is annoying. In fact, we’ll go so far as to say that no sane person has ever elected to permanently share their bedroom with their sibling ever in history. That’s because we all need our own space, and half of a bedroom isn’t exactly enough.
We imagine that sharing a bedroom with your brother presents its own unique and likely gross (have you ever been inside of a teenage boy’s bedroom?) set of obstacles. But that doesn’t mean that sharing one with your sister is infinitely better. Because, newsflash, ladies and gents, it isn’t.
You may love your sister and all, but let’s be honest and admit that these ten struggles of sharing a room with her are very real:
1. It’s so easy for her to steal your clothes now. Good luck looking for your pink top, which you’ll conveniently find peeking out from under her bed after she insisted that she didn’t wear it.
2. You can’t exactly kick her out when you’re annoyed. She owns this real estate, too.
3. Her mess is your mess. Unlike heads, two messes are not better than one.
4. When you’re not talking, you still have to be near each other. Which doesn’t exactly do wonders for the whole, “YES, I’m still mad at you” charade you try to keep up even after you’ve stopped being angry.
5. Your sleep schedules either have to be the same, or you have to be okay with be awoken when you wish you were asleep. It’s preparation for your first college roommate!

6. Having guests over is ridiculous. Just invite your sister to the sleepover, because she’s physically there, anyway.
7. You’ll never agree on a decoration scheme. So, just get used to the room’s decorum being split exactly down the middle.
8. You’ll only ever dominate half of the room’s best qualities. You either choose easy window access, or easy closet access. Easy outlet access, or prime door location. Never both.
9. Privacy is non-existent. Want to go into your room to have a private phone conversation? LOL.
10. There’s never enough space to move around or put your stuff, no matter how big the room is. “No bedroom was designed to hold two beds, MOM and DAD.”
