When I was in high school, I spent a lot of time dreaming about being an adult in my 20s. I figured I would have my entire life together, be impossibly chic, have enough money to live in a new house and travel often, and do cool adult things like being able to eat whatever I wanted and making everyone younger than me feel intimidated. This is the daydream thought process many of us go through, and I hate to break the bubble, but… growing up and getting older is hard.
To be perfectly honest, I love the age I’m at right now. I’ve come a long way, I have a very cool job, a great boyfriend and my clothes are much better than they once were. I do feel like I have my life together for the most part, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t tons of things that stress me out! Being an adult is a constant struggle of wondering how everyone else seems to know what to do while you don’t. I can’t tell you how many times I have hopefully looked into the eyes of a “real” adult with the thought that they’ll help me, forgetting that I am a real adult.
You might not be quite there yet, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t going through the struggles of growing up. Even going from 16 years old to 18 years old is rough!
