The 10 Constant Struggles of Being an Absolute Control Freak

Being a control freak is how we imagine it must feel to live in a plastic bubble from which you can see everything screwing things up but can’t stop them from doing it. And also they can’t hear you from outside of the bubble, so they don’t even realize how wrong they do things.

The only difference is that, in real life, people can totally see when they’re doing things the wrong way. How, you ask? Because there are control freaks lurking around every corner, ready to glare at them until they either fix what they’re doing or let said angel control freak do it the right way. If anything, we’re around to restore order to the world and should be thanked, like, all day long.

Sometimes we are! Other times, however, we’re just forced to stomach these ten big struggles of our personality types. And the only consolation is that at least we aren’t alone in freaking out about disorder.

1. People constantly calling you bossy. Is that the new term for “getting stuff done?”

2. Compromising. *shudders*

3. Living in a forever state of panic that someone will ruin your carefully-planned activities. Even when control freaks are at rest, they’re never truly relaxed.

4. Complaining that you have to do everything. But also setting it up that way because you don’t think that anyone else can get stuff done as well as you can.

5. Freaking out when plans change even a little. Which is only compounded by people saying things like, “It isn’t the end of the world,” and “you’re literally an insane person.”

6. Running out of space in your highly-detailed daily planner. They’re supposed to last a year, but SO MUCH happens in a day.

7. Group projects for which the responsibilities are delegated. “Excuse me, everyone in my group is an idiot and they won’t listen to me when I tell them so.”

8. Having to pretend that it doesn’t kill you to see other people screw things up. “Huh? Nope, my eye isn’t twitching. I was just… winking.”

9. Watching someone clean ~their way~. Or cook, or fold laundry, or do literally anything.

10. People telling you that “some things are just out of your control.” And it’s like, “JUST SET ME ON FIRE, WHY DON’T YOU.”
