The 10 Struggles of NOT Watching Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars is quite possibly the biggest show on TV right now. It’s skyrocketed to popularity and it basically dominates its demographic with, like, no effort at all. And those are the exact reasons why it’s a legit struggle living life as a non-viewer.

What we mean is that, with most other shows, you can pretty much navigate without watching it on the reg or ever. But that’s not so with PLL. It’s like being the only one in your class without a Neopet in the early ’00s. It just didn’t happen. And when it did, you kept your head down because you were sure to have a tough time trying to explain why not. It’s the same thing with NOT watching this show. Here are just ten of the daily struggles:

1. Not being able to keep up with who ‘A’ is. Have they found ‘A’ yet? Is ‘A’ a mirage?

2. Trying to follow when a friend is explaining the show’s drama to you. There are so many plot lines in this show that it puts Love Actually to shame.

3. Being on social media when the show is on. Has the whole world entered in an agreement to live-tweet this show whenever it’s on? We’re thinking yeah.

4. Being on social media when something WILD happens. It’s like, “WHAT, WHAT’D I MISS, TELL ME.”

5. Trying and failing at matching up the characters’ names with their faces. There are just SO many people, it’s basically impossible.

6. Dealing with the dramatic gasps when you say, “I’ve never watched that show.” We get it, we get it. EVERYONE and their grandma watches that show and we’re, like, aliens. We know.

7. Falling in weird second-hand love with the show’s cast. They seem so sweet and fantastic that it doesn’t even matter that we don’t know anything about their show!

8. Truly not understanding how this ‘A’ storyline could have held up so long. There are SVU episodes that solve 10 murders in 1/100th of the time that this show solves its mysteries.

9. Not being able to take any of those PLL-themed quizzes because the results make no sense to you. And believe us, there are a lot.

10. Psyching yourself out to believe that you aren’t missing much. It’s like 5 billion episodes in, so, at this point, getting caught up would basically be a lifelong journey.
